Coach Carlos Uribe started fencing at Jamaica High School, Queens N.Y in he 1970’s. In 1975 Carlos placed 4th over all in the NYC High School individual championships. Coach Richard was his teammate though out these years. Both were mentored by Morris Goodman a beloved and dedicated teacher whose influence is felt to this day. Partially by plan and coincidence Carlos was recruited by Maestro Micheal D’asaro to fence at San Jose State in 1977. As Spartan’s Coaches Richard and Carlos, were part of the teams stellar record of west coast/NCAA championships. As old teammates and friends the circle has made full circuit and we both enjoy sharing a sport we love dearly with youth of today.
